#58 Sail on the Mediterranean Sea

Sailing is quickly becoming a popular activity for Israelis. The Israel Sailing Association (also known as the Israel Yachting Association) is the national governing body for the sport of sailing in Israel, recognized by the International Sailing Federation. Former Olympian Yehuda Maayan became Chairman of the Israel Sailing Association in 1992. Former Olympian Eli Zuckerman is the Chairman of the Professional Committee of the Israel Sailing Association.

The Israel Sailing Association writes:

Sailing is one of the most prominent and successful sport fields in Israel, a field that earned Israel its first Olympic Gold Medal when Gal Friedman, windsurfer won the Olympic games in Athens in 2004 as well as two Bronze Olympic Medals thus far.

These tremendous achievements, together with winning dozens of medals in World Championships and European Championships for adults and youth, have made athlete surfers from the Israel Sailing Association outstanding ambassadors for the country.

The Israel Sailing Association leads the sailing activity in the country and one of its main objectives is to develop and promote the sport, while managing and organizing competitive and achievement orientated sailing, with a special emphasis on the Olympic classes.

The Israel Sailing Association – is the only national sailing authority recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Israel’s Olympic Committee and various international associations.
